Sitges Film Festival has announced an extension for the presentation of projects for WomanInFan.

WomanInFan was born out of the need to give better visibility to film projects created by women throughout history, in addition to attracting female talent to participate in genre film projects and providing recognition to female filmmakers who have emerged in recent years.

For the 56th edition of Sitges, training and meetings with industry professionals, through a stay for the duration of the Festival, will be offered to female filmmakers who have at least one fantastic genre short film on their résumé, in addition to a project of the same type planned for the future.

The date to apply for the Sitges – WomanInFan stay has been extended to July 31st. You can find more information on the initiative’s official website.

On the other hand, there is a new call for female filmmakers to present short film teasers, under the Girls just wanna have Fan initiative. The idea is for filmmakers to produce a teaser of a non-existent short film. Of the projects submitted, 10 will be selected and one winner will receive advice and cash prizes to be able to produce the idea presented in her teaser, but in feature film format.

The deadline for submitting materials is July 31. You can learn more about the requirements at their official website.

In addition, Sitges, for the ninth year in a row, presents the Sitges FanPitch, an international competition to present and promote horror, science fiction and fantasy series and movies in general that are in development.

The point of the FanPitch is to discover the best genre projects, to link their creators with the leading companies in the industry. From those selected, five TV series and five movies will be chosen to join the projects selected at the film markets that collaborate with Sitges. In the case of series, the event will be complemented by the Showrunners LAB, aimed at giving TV series producers a seminar focused on the figure of the showrunner, that is, the head writer.
