The Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF) informed that it has two new members: the Ramaskrik Film Festival is now a competitive member, while the Offscreen Film Festival joined the federation as a supporting member.
Ramaskrik is a horror festival based in Oppdal, Norway. If you watch the modern found footage classic Troll Hunter (Trolljegeren, 2010), well, you can get a sense of the type of landscape this festival takes place in.
Offscreen, on the other hand, is celebrated in Brussels, Belgium. During its three-week duration, it showcases genre and cult cinema.
Additionally, Brazil’s Fantaspoa – previously a supporting MIFF member – has become a competitive member. Both Fantaspoa and Ramaskrik will run in 2024 “the short film competitions for the Méliès d’argent for the best European short film.”
About Ramaskrik
Ramaskrik is a horror film festival nestled in the mountains of Central Norway. Set against the backdrop of towering peaks famous for “trolls,” sheep, and musk-ox, we create the perfect atmosphere for screening international films, festival circuit highlights, Norwegian premieres, short films, work-in-progress sessions, and four days of bone-chilling fun in Oppdal. What sets Ramaskrik apart is its unique location and the fact that most attendees travel to Oppdal. Once you arrive, you’re immersed in the festival experience until you depart—a sense of community that both our audience and invited film guests appreciate.
