Yeon Sang-ho’s Train to Busan (2016) is getting a theatrical re-release in the U.S. on August 14, because of its 10th anniversary. Well Go USA Entertainment is presenting the terrific South Korean zombie flick “in 4K for the first time.” You can watch here its new trailer.

A24’s addition to the Friday the 13th franchise is finally a reality, as Peacock has unveiled the first teaser for Crystal Lake. The series is “a prequel to Friday the 13th” and follows “single mother Pam Voorhees (Linda Cardellini) who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events are set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?” Crystal Lake starts streaming on October 15.

Festivals

The Fantasia International Film Festival is hosting the world premiere of Los Vampires (2026) on July 21. According to the festival’s program, this intriguing period piece is “a fantastical fictionalized account of the making of George Melford’s Spanish Dracula (1931), which had been shot in the evenings on the stages of Tod Browning’s soon-to-be classic.”

Several features selected for Fantasia have presented their respective trailers, including the documentary about effects artist Steve Johnson (Rubberhead: The Life & Monsters of Steve Johnson), Alice Maio Mackay’s sci-fi effort (Our Effed Up World), and a “festive holiday horror” (Unholy Night).

The RZA’s One Spoon of Chocolate (2025), Kenji Tanigaki’s The Furious (2025), and Léa Mysius’ The Birthday Party (2026) are some of the movies set to screen at the 2026 MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival, taking place from September 3 to 13.

The Criterion Collection is releasing Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein (2025) on 4K UHD and Blu-ray in time for Halloween (on October 27). The set includes “a new 158-minute extended director’s cut of the film,” titled Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut.
