The sci-fi horror anthology V/H/S/Beyond (2024) is ready to officially kick off spooky season next week, as it arrives on streamer Shudder on Friday, October 4. Kate Siegel, Justin and Christian Long, and Virat Pal are among the helmers of this new entry in the found footage franchise. Watch here its full trailer.

Get Away (2024) is a folk horror comedy that seems to be influenced by The Wicker Man (1973) and that was written by Nick Frost himself. Directed by Steffen Haars, Get Away follows a family during a vacation in a remote island, where things will surely get out of hand. The film, which now has a trailer, will be released by IFC Films in U.S. theaters on December 6.

Executive produced by James Wan, Teacup (2024) is a sci-fi horror series based on the book Stinger, by Robert McCammon. Set in rural Georgia, Teacup “follows a disparate group of people who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.” The series will stream on Peacock from October 10 to 31. Grief and supernatural horror come together in the movie Daddy’s Head (2024), which is about a young boy (Rupert Turnbull) who must deal with a creature that resembles his dead father. After its world premiere at Fantastic Fest, Daddy’s Head is heading to Shudder on October 11 (trailer here).

Festivals

Christopher Andrews’ Bring Them Down (2024), which stars Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott, won the Best Picture award at the 2024 Fantastic Fest (September 19-26). Other award-winning films were The Rule of Jenny Pen (Best Director, Best Actor), Sister Midnight (Best Next Wave Picture), Animale (Best Next Wave Director) Chainsaws Were Singing (Best Horror Picture), and Dead Talents Society (Best Horror Director, Audience Award).

The Trieste Science+Fiction Festival announced the single shot horror film MadS (2024) as the opening film for its upcoming 24th edition (October 29-November 3). Other movies that will screen in Trieste are: Isaac Ezbán’s survival film Párvulos (2024), and the sci-fi adventures Escape from the 21st Century (Cong 21 shiji anquan cheli, 2024) and Heavens: The Boy and His Robot (2024).

Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s student film, Cannibal! The Musical (1993), originally released by Troma, is now making its Blu-ray debut thanks to Degausser Video, a label linked to Vinegar Syndrome. This Blu-ray will feature a new restoration of the film and a brand new documentary, as well as many other extras. It’ll be available to pre-order from November 1.
