“What if someone you loved became something else?,” asks the new official trailer for Wolf Man (2025), in which we can see a family man (played by Christopher Abbott) being attacked and gradually becoming the titular monster. Directed by Leigh Whannell, Wolf Man also stars Julia Garner and Matilda Firth as the wife and the daughter of the protagonist, respectively. Wolf Man hits theaters on January 17.

There’s another werewolf movie coming soon to theaters (on December 6 to be precise): Steven C. Miller’s Werewolves (2024), starring Frank Grillo. This one has a peculiar mythology: a supermoon, which turned millions of humans into werewolves the previous year, is going to emerge again. You can watch here the trailer for Werewolves, which promises a combination of action and horror.

Screen Anarchy debuted the first trailer for A Fishermen’s Tale (Un cuento de pescadores, 2024), the Mexican folk horror movie based on the legend of La Miringua, “a spirit that takes the form of a woman to attract fishermen to the bottom of a lake, where she bewitches them.” Directed by Edgar Nito (The Gasoline Thieves), A Fishermen’s Tale will screen at this year’s Mórbido Fest (29 October-November 10).

The Substance (2024) – a stylish Hollywood-set sci-fi horror film about aging and beauty standards – is definitely one of the most talked about movies of the year. And now the Cannes-winning sophomore feature from Coralie Fargeat, which stars Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, will stream exclusively on MUBI from October 31.

The Video Archives Podcast will be back next Tuesday, October 29 with its second season. Hosted by Quentin Tarantino, Roger Avary and Gala Avary, this essential podcast is inspired by the days when Tarantino and Avary worked at a video store in Manhattan Beach. Tarantino now owns the store’s original video cassette collection, so for each episode of the podcast they watch a few of the VHS tapes and discuss them in depth. Dark Star (1974), Delirium (1979), Demonoid (1981), Piranha (1978), Dressed to Kill (1980), Alice, Sweet Alice (1976), Star 80 (1983), Busting (1974), Amphibian Man (Chelovek-amfibiya, 1961), and Baxter (1989) are just a few of many films that were discussed in the first season.

After Krazy House (2024), Timestalker (2024) and Get Away (2024), another genre movie featuring Nick Frost is ready to debut: the supernatural horror-thriller Black Cab (2024), in which Frost plays a sinister taxi driver who kidnaps a couple (Synnove Karlsen, Luke Norris). Directed by Bruce Goodison, Black Cab will be available to stream on Shudder on November 8 (trailer here).

E.L. Katz’s survival horror movie Azrael (2024) arrives on Shudder tomorrow, October 25. Azrael, which was written by Simon Barrett, follows a young woman (Samara Weaving) as she faces a cult and a demon.
