XYZ Films shared four stills from Havoc (2025), Gareth Evans’ first movie since Apostle (2018). The crime actioner stars Tom Hardy and Forest Whitaker. It follows a detective who “must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.” Havoc will be available to stream on Netflix sometime in 2025.
Blood Window, the platform for genre cinema within the Ventana Sur market (December 2-6), has revealed their 2024 screenings. The showcase includes seven films: Mariano Cattaneo’s No One Will Hear Your Scream (Argentina), Carlos Marin’s Game Over (Mexico), Luiza Shelling Tubaldini’s Love Kills (Brazil), Heixan Robles’ Borealis (Puerto Rico), Carlos Matienzo Serment’s Tekenchu (Mexico), Christian Mejía Carrascal’s Symbionts (Colombia), and Santiago Ventura’s Black Water (Uruguay). Bloody Disgusting confirmed that the documentary George A. Romero’s Resident Evil (2025) has found a U.S. and Canada distributor in Uncork’d Entertainment. Directed by Brandon Salisbury, the doc explores the story of Romero’s 1998 unproduced script based on the first Resident Evil video game. George A. Romero’s Resident Evil hits VOD and Digital on January 7.
Universal Pictures unleashed the first official teaser trailer for How to Train Your Dragon (2025). This live-action remake of the 2010 animated movie stars Mason Thames as Hiccup, the young viking who’ll alter the violent relationship his people has had with dragons. Gerard Butler, Nico Parker, Nick Frost and Julian Dennison are also part of the cast. How to Train Your Dragon opens in theaters on June 13.

The winners of the 17th Mórbido Fest have been announced. Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala’s The Devil’s Bath (Des Teufels Bad, 2024) got the Golden Skull from the Global section, while Gonzalo Otero’s The Devil’s Teardrop (La lágrima del diablo, 2024) earned the Golden Skull from the LATAM section. Alexandre O. Philippe’s Chain Reactions (2024) was named Best Documentary. Other award winners include Sayara (Silver Skull – Audience Award from the Global section) and A Fishermen’s Tale (Silver Skull – Audience Award from the LATAM section).

After an incredibly successful theatrical run, Terrifier 3 (2024) will be released on VOD on November 26. After that, on December 17, Damien Leone’s Christmas-set horror picture will arrive on physical media: 4K UDH + Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Steelbook (4K UDH + Blu-ray), and DVD.
The documentary Phantom of Winnipeg (2019) is finally available to get on DVD and even on VHS. Directed by Malcolm Ingram and Sean Stanley, Phantom of Winnipeg tackles the success that Brian De Palma’s Phantom of the Paradise (1974) initially had in Winnipeg, Canada, while it flopped elsewhere.
