September has started and we’ve got fresh posters for both Resident Evil (2026) and Hope (2026)! Zach Cregger’s highly anticipated video game adaptation hits theaters from September 16, while Na Hong-jin’s sci-fi/horror actioner on September 9 (in the U.S.) and October 8 (in Mexico).
Speaking of Resident Evil, there’s an exciting new clip in which the protagonist Bryan (Austin Abrams) runs as a bunch of infected persons jump from buildings.
Hammer Films and Casey Walker’s horror western Ithaqua (2026) is getting a proper release in 2027; meanwhile you can watch here its first teaser.
Synopsis: “A remote 1800s fur-trade outpost is plagued by an ancient evil with an insatiable hunger for flesh. The cold is the least of anyone’s problems.”
Festivals
LA’s Beyond Fest is paying homage to M. Night Shyamalan with the retrospective Night Visions (September 27-October 12). Movies like Unbreakable (2000), Signs (2002), Trap (2024), The Sixth Sense (1999), and Lady in the Water (2006) are part of the program.
The Sitges Film Festival has added a bunch of titles to its 2026 lineup, including Andrea Corsini’s Ferine (2025), Alex Goyette’s Breeder (2026), Padraig Reynolds’ Gator Face (2026), Nikias Chryssos’ Bloody Tennis (2026), and Ithaqua. The 59th Sitges is scheduled for October 8-18.
Ghost in the Cell (2026), Colony (2026), and Never After Dark (2026), among other flicks, will screen at the MADHORROR festival, happening in Madrid from October 30 to November 2.
Submission are now open for the 2027 Fantasia International Film Festival, set to take place from July 16 to August 2 in Montreal. The regular deadline to submit through FilmFreeway is January 15.

Severin Films is releasing, on November 24, a four-disc box set dedicated to Indonesian director Joko Anwar, featuring Dead Time (2007), Satan’s Slaves (2017), Impetigore (2019), and Satan’s Slaves 2: Communion (2022).
