Well Go USA Entertainment released the trailer and poster for Joko Anwar’s terrific horror comedy Ghost in the Cell (2026), hitting theaters on October 2.
Synopsis: “Joko Anwar plunges viewers into a high-security prison ruled by feuding gangs and a tyrannical warden. The arrival of a new inmate kicks off a series of mysterious gruesome murders that leave its victims on morbid display. The hapless inmates trapped in the prison must overcome their rivalries to unmask an invisible, otherworldly enemy. No one is safe as the cells cage in the horrors and a ghost roams the prison with murderous intent.”
The spinoff of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (2019) centered around Brad Pitt’s character finally has an official title: The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth (2026). Written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will have a two-week IMAX run from November 25; it’ll arrive on Netflix on December 23 (teaser).
“Never underestimate your hunger to win,” says the trailer for Nikias Chryssos’ sports horror Bloody Tennis (2026), in which “Sophie (Sandra Guldberg Kampp) enters the cutthroat world of an elite tennis academy in Southern Europe, where ambition, obsession and fierce competition mask something increasingly sinister beneath the surface.” Bloody Tennis starts streaming on Shudder on September 25.
Tribeca selection Breeder (2026) also got an intriguing trailer, ahead of its U.S. theatrical release on October 16. This horror flick follows “an eccentric poodle breeder,” who “lures a broke college student to her remote ranch with a promise of research funding. But, as he soon learns, there’s a catch.”
The folk horror feature Bokshi (2025) debuted last year at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and is now heading to Indian cinemas on October 9 (new trailer).
Synopsis: “Anahita, traumatized by the brutal disappearance of her mother, finds comfort in Shalini, her history teacher. On an unconventional school excursion to a mysterious prehistoric site, she confronts her terrifying destiny.”
Festivals
The great Robert Eggers (Werwulf, Nosferatu) is confirmed to attend the 59th Sitges Film Festival (October 8-18) to receive the Time Machine Award, a “recognition of the lifetime achievement of film personalities and/or institutions that have had a special relationship with the festival and, above all, with the fantastic genre.”
The Trieste Science+Fiction Festival unveiled the poster for its 2026 edition, to be celebrated from November 3 to 8. The artwork was created by Spugna.
