Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil (2026) has gotten a new trailer, ahead of its September 18 release.
In the film Austin Abrams plays Bryan, “a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.”
Cregger said that he had this “idea for a story in the world of Resident Evil, but it’s kind of like me, like if I was dropped into a Resident Evil game: I’m terrible with guns, I wouldn’t know how any of them work, I’d miss 99% of all of my shots.”
Jessica Chastain stars in the official trailer for Other Mommy (2026), Rob Savage’s horror flick about “a young girl, Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark), who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home who looks uncannily like her own mother (Chastain).” Other Mommy lands in theaters on October 9.
Roadside Attractions unveiled the poster for Casper Kelly’s Buddy (2026), as well as another teaser. This creepy movie delves into the dark side of a “classic children’s television show.” It hits cinemas in the U.S. on August 28.
Festivals
Yeon Sang-ho’s Colony (2026), Hammer Films’ Ithaqua (2026), Joko Anwar’s Ghost in the Cell (2026), Makoto Ueda’s You Are the Film (2026), Meat Kills (2025), and Frogman Returns (2025) are part of FrightFest’s 2026 program. The festival is happening in London from August 27 to 31.
The Toronto International Film Festival (September 10-20) is hosting the world premieres of two horror series: Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie and A24/Peacock’s Crystal Lake, the prequel to Friday the 13th. TIFF’s Midnight Madness lineup, by the way, will be announced on August 6.
Dread Central debuted the trailer for Minos Papas’ period piece Motherwitch (2026), which screens at the Fantasia International Film Festival on July 30.
Synopsis: “Eleni, a scorned painter in Cyprus in 1882, attempts to resurrect her dead children, but instead awakens the Kalikantzari creatures of Cypriot folklore. Now she must find a way to overcome her grief and anger and dispel the curse that has befallen her village.”
