The NIFFF (Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival) reaches its 22nd edition with a plethora of films and filmmakers who, as every year, will revolutionize genre cinema and shape the trends of the years to come. To that end, it has unveiled its program for 2023.
The second edition directed by Pierre-Yves Walder will present 124 films from 44 countries, showing a representative map of genre cinema worldwide.
NIFFF 2023 will kick off on June 30 with Sophie Barthes’ The Pod Generation and will close with Just Philippot’s Acide. The official selection includes 8 world premieres, 7 international premieres, 4 European premieres and 46 Swiss premieres.
The judges of the 22nd edition of the NIFFF will be: Josiane Balasko (FR), Veronika Franz (AT), Charles Burns (US), John McTiernan (US), and Olivier Babinet (FR).
The sections are divided into International Competition, with 14 titles (almost half of them first films) and Asian Competition, with the best and most innovative films from the Asian continent.
Out of competition there are the Third Kind sections, nestled in diversity and dedicated to blurring boundaries. Ultra Movies bring the frenetic beating of a racing heart for the most extreme films.
Among the titles to be screened are the highly anticipated Cobweb, Evil Dead Rise, Pearl, It Lives Inside, Marry my Dead Body and Cerdita, among many others.
